Like Gold
You make me so sad but I can’t stop smiling
Like a wild tornado, you have me spiraling
Remember what you said, what you did
Brought me out of my shell, meant to stay hid
But you’re a force of nature, I couldn’t compete
In a world of average, you’re nothing short of elite
Can’t believe I’m saying this but you made me believe
I could do anything that I’ve ever wanted to achieve
Because you’re so great, it’s undeniable
You’re iron-clad, so reliable
Losing sleep just to ponder you more
Never met someone like you before
You asked for more and I gave what I could
If the roles were reversed, I’m sure you would
Because that’s who you are, it’s your nature
The one who’s good with nomenclature
Even though your presence comes with hurt
I’m hungry for more, like a fine dessert
Not because I’m some glutton for pain
Just someone who wants your good vibes to remain
I’ve been through worse and received much less
But here’s the tough part, I have to assess
How much you mean, I can’t just pretend
That I don’t want you to be more than my friend
But for the first time, I think I’m at peace with myself
Not going to let my greed tarnish your wealth
I’m okay with things simple, just a meet and greet
Not going to pretend I’ll become part of your fleet
It is what it is, that much is for sure
I’m not going to become ill just for your cure
I’ll keep moving forward, continue to learn
Just wait around until I find someone else who yearns
Know you won’t be by my side but I’ll never forget
That meeting you is something I could never regret
