To the Moon

In this time of tumultuous change

I’m constantly left feeling strange

Nothing is going how I planned

And I’m being shipped off to a distant land

I pack my life up into one big box

To go to a place where opportunity knocks

When I know I’ll be left feeling out of place

Like I’m in a club blasting too much bass

Of course I go where I wanted all along

As soon as I finally feel this is where I belong

But there’s no calling it off now, this is it

Even when I know that, it’s hard to admit

I’m becoming frantic looking for a constant

But as the days go by I become despondent

But tonight I look up in the sky and take a peek

And all of the sudden I don’t feel so meek

You existed before me and you’ll be there after

Always looking at me from the cosmic rafter

You’re the stability I’ve been looking for

And I can’t wait to show you what’s in store

Because with you on my side, I can succeed

As we rise and fall, we’ll follow the others lead

So to the moon, may we keep shining bright

So we may guide each other with our light

Not who I thought my best friend would be

But at least I know you’ll never leave me

As long as I can see you in the night sky

I’ll always have a reason to give another try
